This lecture was very enlightening, especially the Q&A section. I was most intrigued by the question asked by a woman near the end. She brought up something I was thinking about during the entire lecture. How much of this is motivated by sex, or more specifically, the lack of it in these young mens' lives? They are raised in a highly segregated society, Thompson himself acknowledges that they are highly fearful of women, and they are generally virgins. The prospect of finally having access to large numbers of naive women who will provide no resistance must be nothing short of intoxicating.
